As Elton John’s long-term collaborator and the creative mind behind some of his most famous lyrics, few people can have had as big of an influence on the world of music as Bernie. In an amazing twist of fate, the pair were brought together after Bernie answered an advert in the New Musical Express and Elton simultaneously submitted examples of his work to the paper. Bernie went on to write the lyrics for the majority of Elton’s hits, while also finding time to release three solo albums as a singer and two albums with his band Farm Dogs. In a personal capacity, Bernie’s previous charity work has included producing a benefit for Aids Project Los Angeles in 1992, having moved to Southern California in the mid-1970s. As well as being one of music’s greatest lyricists, Bernie is an accomplished painter and began exhibiting his artwork professionally in 2010.
